About Emma Smith

Choosing the right therapist matters. You want someone who is qualified, experienced, and able to support you in a way that feels safe and effective.

I offer evidence-based therapy with a calm, supportive approach, helping you understand your experiences and move forward with confidence.
Professional background
I have over 18 years of experience working within NHS psychological services, supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties.

I have worked as a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist since 2012, providing structured, evidence-based treatment in line with NICE guidelines.

In 2016, I trained in EMDR and have since supported individuals in processing trauma and distressing experiences using this approach.

Alongside my clinical work, I have also provided supervision for both qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists and those in training. This reflects a strong foundation of knowledge, practice, and professional trust.
My approach
My approach is kind, compassionate, and structured.

I understand that starting therapy can feel difficult, so I focus on creating a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and able to work at your own pace.

Therapy is collaborative. We work together to understand what you are experiencing, identify what is keeping things stuck, and take practical steps towards change.

I use proven methods, but always adapt them to you. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
